Woman’s snowmobile breaks through the ice on Lake Ida

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Minn. (KVRR) — An Alexandria woman is safe and uninjured after her snowmobile went through the ice.

The sheriff’s office says it happened on the Southwest Bay of Lake Ida between Breezy Point and Lakeview Point.

The 24-year-old was out of the water and walking to the shore when deputies got there.

She says she was able to jump to safety when the snowmobile went in.

The sheriff’s office is reminding people that due to variable weather conditions, the ice is still unsafe in many areas.
