Fargo Salvation Army announces money raised through Red Kettle Campaign

FARGO — The Salvation Army reached 90 percent of its $850,000 Red Kettle campaign goal this past holiday season.
The campaign raised $762,728.
Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner accepted the Blizzard Kings award for police and sheriff’s deputies volunteering during December’s snowiest days.
West Fargo Fire also accepted the Graham Cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow award for getting the second most donations, but needing a little s’more to be number one.
But the big honors fell to the realtors association, who raised the most out of the three groups, with over $31,000.
“I don’t think the economy may have some affects. Some areas receive an increase in giving, stock market increases those types of things. Other areas decreasing,” said Salvation Army Major Abe Tamayo. “You know we had the initial fear with the SNAP program earlier this year. What the economy would look like, the uncertainty in those things. I think that’s part of it. But still, the community is overwhelmingly generous in supporting the salvation army missions.”
Realtor’s also raised the most money during the 2024 holiday season.
