FARGO (KVRR) – Local union leaders are supporting a plan that calls for a general strike in opposition to ICE activity in Minnesota.

The Red River Valley AFL-CIO and the West Area Labor Council are endorsing the action in solidarity with the Minneapolis AFL-CIO.

The Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation and other unions throughout the state are calling for a general strike on Friday, January 23rd.

They say the labor movement is united against what they call the “ICE occupation” of Minnesota, and the effect they say it has had on their members.

The union says members and their families have been detained at alarming rates.
