FERTILE, Minn. (KVRR) —  A mother and son from Fertile, Minnesota are jailed in Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston after a cocaine overdose investigation.

28-year-old Chase Donaldson is charged with five counts while 62-year-old Darla Donaldson is charged with three counts including possessing and selling a controlled substance.

Court records reveal the Donaldson’s were tied to the overdose of a woman on February 1 in Crookston after she ingested cocaine at the home of 38-year-old Alex Kaiser, who is also charged in the case.

The woman told investigators that Kaiser had been providing cocaine to her for years.

They learned Darla Donaldson gave him $5,000 three weeks earlier to purchase a large quantity of cocaine, which he obtained on February 1.

A search warrant was carried out at Chase and Darla’s home and authorities found two Mason jars with suspected cocaine, marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms, guns and ammo.

They both tested positive for cocaine.

The investigation was conducted by Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Pine To Prairie Drug Task Force.
