Minnesota Legislature convenes annual session

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KVRR) — The Minnesota Legislature begins its session, convening for the first time since last June.
For many lawmakers walking into the Capitol was a bit different, as security has been amplified since the shooting that killed former speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman.
Sen. John Hoffman who was shot and injured, shared his condolences to the Hortman family.
The session is expected to focus on federal immigration, firearms, fraud, and abuse.
“Come in with modest expectations. We’re all going to work like heck to get stuff done, but come in with modest expectations about what are the limits we can do,” said Sen. Rob Kupec, Moorhead.
The legislature will adjourn in May.
