FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A first-of-its kind celebration in Fargo gave everyone a chance to experience Vietnamese culture at a pivotal time in the calendar.

February 17 was Tet, or the Vietnamese Lunar New Year.

This Saturday, the Vietnamese American Association held a celebration at the Fargo Air Museum, a ticketed event that included traditional Vietnamese food and drink and a whole night of performances.

Organizers say they felt like the time was ripe to showcase their Vietnamese heritage.

“We were just kind of sitting here, thinking that we need some way to get the Fargo-Moorhead area integrated with the Vietnamese community and vice versa,” explained Lydia Cao, secretary of the Vietnamese American Association. “We hadn’t seen a lot of big events like this, and we wanted to be the ones to put it on.”

2026 is the year of the fire horse on the lunar calendar – a symbol that embodies strength, freedom, and energy.
