EAGAN, Minn. (KVRR) – Former Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Kyler Murray is signing a one-year deal with the Vikings, the team confirmed Thursday. Murray, selected first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft to the Arizona Cardinals, now joins a QB room that includes former No. 10 overall pick J.J. McCarthy and second-year QB Max Brosmer. Minnesota hopes Murray’s experience will add depth and competition heading into the 2026 season.

With Murray already owed $36.8 million from Arizona, his one-year contract with the Vikings will be for the veteran league minimum, according to NFL reports.

Murray spent the first six seasons of his career with the Arizona Cardinals, where he started 87 games.

Murray appeared in five games during the 2025 season, completing 110 of 161 passes for 962 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions. He also added 173 rushing yards in that span.

Over his career in Arizona, Murray threw for 20,460 yards and 121 touchdowns while completing 67.1 percent of his passes — a franchise record for the Cardinals. The dual-threat quarterback has also been dangerous on the ground, becoming one of the few quarterbacks to reach 20,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards early in his career.

Before entering the NFL, Murray won the Heisman Trophy at University of Oklahoma and was famously drafted in the first round of both the NFL and Major League Baseball drafts before choosing football.
