Halloween weekend is here, and the Fargo Police department is urging everyone to make safety a top priority.

As the streets of downtown Fargo fill with zombies, fairies, and superheroes this weekend, law enforcement will be out ensuring dangerous drivers won’t be joining them.

Fargo Police Officer Jessica Schindeldecker says there won’t be any specific enforcement changes, but officers will out looking for signs of drunk drivers.

“There unable maintain there their own lane, varying speeds or if they’re going in the wrong direction somewhere, no headlights those things that indicate that they’re maybe impairment”, Schindeldecker says.

Cab companies like Doyle’s will be upping the number of drivers Fridays and Saturday night to make sure everyone leaving the bars, can get home safely.

“We’ll have about 60 cars on the road and we’ll be all over the town. We don’t really plant at places. There’s not really any cab stands in town. There’s a couple downtown reserved for cabs but otherwise our cabs will be all over the city”,said Ryan Novak, manager at Doyle’s Cab Service.

Novak says that Doyle’s will have cab drivers constantly making rounds, throughout the downtown area.

He adds that their cabs will be making multiple stops near bars like the OB, Empire, and Bismarck Tavern, which is usually where they receive the most calls for service.

Taylor Paluck of Fargo says drinking and driving isn’t worth it. He will be one of those downtown Halloween goers that will be calling a cab.

“Either make sure we find a taxi at the beginning of the night make a plan or one of us just doesn’t drive that night, because it’s just so important not to even risk getting a DUI or anything like that”, says Paluck

Other car services like Uber and Sober Driver are also alternatives to finding a safe way home this Halloween.
