Government agencies served with preservation letters on behalf of Angela Lipps

FARGO (KVRR) – Several local, state and federal agencies have been ordered to preserve, or turn over documents in connection with a possible lawsuit seeking damages on behalf of Angela Lipps.

Attorney Dane DeKrey says Fargo police, West Fargo police, Cass County, the Cass County Sheriff, Cass County States Attorney, North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, U.S. Marshals Service and the North Dakota State and Local Intelligence Center  were served.

Attorneys typically send preservation letters to ensure that evidence isn’t destroyed, hidden, or altered before a lawsuit officially begins.

DeKrey says so far, Cass County has produced some records, but Fargo police refused the request, citing an ongoing investigation.

He says he’s still waiting for States Attorney Kim Hegvik to decide if she will comply.

Lipps was arrested last July by U.S. Marshals in Tennessee. Her attorneys say a camera with AI software mistakenly linked her to a Fargo bank fraud investigation.

Lipps was released from the Cass County Jail on Christmas Eve, nearly six months after being taken into custody.

DeKrey is working with Twin Cities attorney Eric Rice to investigate the matter and will decide later whether to take legal action.
