Leaders to discuss how food insecurity has increased over time

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Food insecurity continues to be an issue in the community, and local leaders in the area are working to address the stigma.

The Great Plains Food Bank, West Fargo Eats, and West Fargo Public Schools were invited to discuss their takeaways from working in the community, to the schools, and their needs.

In the last year, food insecurity has continued to grow.

As more and more people who have been on SNAP or have been affected by the government shutdown have relied on places like food banks.

The Cass Clay Hunger Coalition Coordinator says the group is continuously working to reduce those barriers.

“We’re just always prepared as a general unit to really handle anything that comes our way. So just staying in touch, working together, and being collaborative goes a long way,” said Jill Ambuehl, Cass Clay Hunger Coalition Coordinator at Great Plains Food Bank.

While discussions are soon to take place, they hope to strengthen their relationships with others to look to the future and know where their needs are going to be.
