Celebrating Mothers Across The Valley
Families across the Red River Valley took time to celebrate the most important women of all, moms.
It’s a job that’s 24 hours a day and 7 days a week: it’s being a mom.
And for most of them, they wouldn’t have it any other way.
“The minute I found out I was going to be a mom was the best day of my life,” says Cassie Gunderson of Fargo.
“I just think kids are the best thing in the whole world and if I thought about it a lot I would just start crying because it’s so special.”
It’s the one day of the year moms are told to sit down and relax.
And that’s not a problem for some.
“I had breakfast made for me today and he is making a crock pot meal so we don’t have to make supper later so yeah he’s doing good today,” says Rachele Davis of Moorhead.
But even on the most relaxing of days some moms are still hard at work.
“I believe we baked around 1,000 cupcakes,” says Gigi’s Cupcakes Co-Owner, Jessie Evanson.
Forget Valentine’s Day, Jessie says Mother’s Day is her busiest day of the year.
“Women love treats like sweets and chocolate,” says Evanson.
But she’s not being left out, her boys know how to treat her well.
“My two sons and my husband stopped by about 15 minutes ago with a big bouquet of flowers,” says Evanson.
Whether you’re a mom, grandma or even a great grandma, you know it’s the toughest job in the world but also the greatest.
“It’s a joy to be a grand mom, the best job in the world.”
As for Jessie, she knows how she’ll be spending the rest of her mother’s day.
“I’ll be sleeping early tonight,” says Evanson.
Because for moms, including mine, the job never stops and we should never stop telling them how much we care.
It looks like moms might have a tie for their favorite cupcake. The cookie dough and Wedding cupcake were today’s top sellers at Gigi’s Cupcakes.
