WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The run-up to local elections continues, as candidates seek to engage with the public in hopes of winning coveted city commission seats.

The city of West Fargo held a town hall meeting on April 23 at the West Fargo Fire Department for candidates for their city commission vacancies.

Four people are vying for two open seats.

The town hall featured opening statements, followed by the candidates responding directly to questions from the audience.

Common themes were efficiency of city government, proper use of taxpayer dollars, and making sure West Fargo can keep up with rapid expansion.

“I want to make sure West Fargo continues to grow, that residents feel confident that their tax dollars are spent wisely, that the infrastructure keeps up with the new growth,” said Patti Stedman.

“Like many of you, I’m concerned about rising housing costs, growing government, decisions being made without enough input from the community,” added John Severson.

There are also two open seats out of four on West Fargo’s Park Board.
