Fargo lawmaker among two people killed in suburban Twin cities plane crash
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (KFGO) – A state legislator from Fargo and a friend were killed Saturday morning in the crash of a small plane in the Twin Cities suburb of Brooklyn Park.
Multiple sources confirmed to KFGO News that District 11 Representative Liz Conmy and a friend, the pilot, Joe Cass, died in the crash. The sources said family of both victims have been notified.
The plane went down shortly before noon. The plane caught fire after it went down in a small park northwest of the Crystal Airport. The plane had departed from the airport. Brooklyn Park fire crews, police and other first responders were on the scene within minutes.
Both the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate. The airport was closed for about two hours following the crash.
Conmy was seeking her second term in the legislature.
