Moorhead Spuds speech team nabs 10th consecutive Class AA state championship

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — It’s a Spud speech dynasty in Moorhead.

Last Friday, the high school speech team secured its 10th consecutive MSHSL Class AA State Championship at Park Center High School.

The Spuds delivered a powerhouse result team score of 70 points, finishing nearly 30 points ahead of runners-up Lakeville North and Apple Valley.

Those schools tied for second with 41 points.

Four Spuds earned individual silver medals:

• Miriam Culloton: Humorous Interpretation

• Jack Simon: Informative Speaking

• Sami Jama: Serious Interpretation of Drama

• Norah Carlson: Serious Interpretation of Prose
