Fire damages La Unica Mexican Market in Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Fire broke out Friday morning at a Mexican market in Moorhead.

Firefighters were called to the fire at La Unica’s 2615 12th Ave. S. location at around 9:37 a.m.

Owner Amy Espinoza says she called 911 after an employee arrived and discovered thick black smoke coming out of the building.

The business was preparing for a Mother’s Day celebration at their Fargo location on Saturday and some of the preparations for the event were being done at the Moorhead location.

Despite this, the owner says they are still planning on holding the event.

“The fiesta must continue, it must go on, so I’m going to probably be short some stuff, but we’re going to be there. We’re going to continue to go about our day and try and get through this as best as we can,” said La Unica owner Amy Espinoza.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire will be investigated.
