Two Adults, One Juvenile Arrested After Pursuit in West Fargo
The West Fargo Police Department says they disabled the suspects' vehicle using spike strips, but the three still attempted to flee on foot.
WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Two Venezuelan nationals are in custody in the Cass County Jail after a traffic stop turned into a foot pursuit in the early morning hours of June 13.
The West Fargo Police Department says they attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation around 5 A.M. in the 300 block of Sukut Street. The driver of the vehicle instead fled and the police initiated a pursuit.
Officers deployed spike strips near the intersection of Main Avenue E. and 9th Street E., which were successful; however, the driver continued east until the vehicle became inoperable near 45th Street S. and 17th Avenue S. All three people then tried to flee on foot and were apprehended.
The driver, 20-year-old Shamuel David Jimenez Caicedo, has been charged with fleeing a peace officer in a vehicle, reckless endangerment, and fleeing on foot, while one of his passengers, 22-year-old Yohandri Jose Ortega-Jimenez, was charged solely with fleeing on foot.
The additional passenger was a juvenile who will be referred to juvenile court for charges. The juvenile was transported to Youthworks.
Both Caicedo and Ortega-Jiminez are Venezuelan nationals and are being held at the Cass County Jail on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer, in addition to the charges listed above.
Nobody involved in the pursuit sustained any injuries.
