One local elementary joined kids from all around the country who tied up their shoes or jumped on two wheels to get to school.
Kindergarten through fifth graders at Ed Clapp Elementary were encouraged to walk or ride their bike to school for national walk to school day.
As a way to celebrate the commuters for their efforts they we’re welcomed to school by a DJ who played live music.
Organizers say it is a positive way for kids to practice safe walking and bicycling skills, as well as reduce traffic congestion near school zones.
“It’s going to help gain some muscles in your legs help burn those calories it also is going to wake up your brain in the morning. So it’s a great activity right away to start off the day get ready to learn and focus,” says Jacob Maki Phyiscal Education Teacher at Ed Clapp.
This is the 19th year that the Fargo Public School District has participated in the event.
