Name Released in Fatal Head-On Beet Truck Crash Near Felton

The Minnesota State Patrol is currently investigating two beet truck accidents that happened within hours of each other.

Two people were killed when their truck crossed the center line and hit a beet truck head on near Felton just after 11:15 last night.

23-year-old Ricardo Gutierrez of Borup, the passenger, died.

We do not know the name of the driver yet.

The beet truck driver, 55-year-old Patrick Moran of Waubun, was taken to Essentia for non-life threatening injuries.

The fatal crash was followed by another accident just after 4:30 this morning where a beet hauler was hurt in a rollover in Norman County.

But authorities say the Felton crash is one of the worst they have ever seen.

“I could agree with what the Sargent said that this was something was, you know I’ve never seen in my life or my law enforcement life,” says Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist.
