West Acres Mall Makes Security Improvements

West Acres Mall is making improvements to its security procedures and installing a new access system.

All employees will now use a key card to access truck loading areas and back hall corridors.

Companies that deliver freight to stores will also have key card access.

Before this upgrade, back doors and loading areas were unlocked.

West Acres officials say the improvements were made for preventative measures.

“The way we look at security is we try to be proactive rather than reactive. So we look at something like this as just a very smart move, a way to secure the building. Keeps us safe, keeps our tenants safe, keeps our customers safe,” says Chris Heaton, West Acres Mall Manager.

All main entrance doors will remain unlocked during regular business hours.

Only employees will be able to access loading areas.
