Forget coupon books or food sales, students at Lincoln Elementary used physical activity for their annual school fundraiser.

To the tune of eye of the tiger, the entire Lincoln Elementary School kicked off its first annual Walk-A-Thon.

Students walked on the course throughout the day.

They have been collecting pledges for the event.

The goal was to reach 10,000 dollars, but that number was quickly surpassed, raising 14,000 dollars.

“Regardless of if the students pledged or not everybody gets to participate. It’s kind of just a day celebrating our students so everybody will get a runner bib, they’ll all get jelly bracelets for every lap that they walked, and keep track of how many laps we did as a school and how many miles we did as a school,” says Lincoln PTA President Kerri Hein-Medhus.

This is the first year for the all school Walk-A-Thon.

100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the Lincoln PTA.
