Moorhead Police Hold Ceremony to Welcome, Promote, and Honor Officers

The Moorhead police department held a ceremony welcoming, promoting, and recognizing officers in their department.
Mayor Del Rae Williams help swear in the department’s newest addition, Officer John Laddie Bata.
Lt. Chris Carey was awarded the Medal of Valor for his selfless efforts in jumping into the Red River to save a man in July.
Lt. Aaron Sprout was presented the lifesaving award for assisting Carey as he almost was taken downstream during the rescue.
“I’m proud to be a member of this department. Been here 27 years, and can’t imagine retiring anytime soon because of the quality of the people that we work with,” says Lt. Chris Carey.
Detective Ryan Nelson was also honored at the ceremony for being promoted to sergeant.
