A Walk To Remember In Fargo

A walk in Fargo is helping many in the area get through the pain of losing a loved one.

Many say it’s never easy losing a loved one.

These walkers in Fargo are taking part in the 9th Annual Walk to Remember.

It’s a walk to help keep the memory alive of someone who died.

“In the public, you can’t do that a whole lot, just because people are uncomfortable with it sometimes,” said Compassionate Friends Meeting Facilitator Kara Bailey.

Sheryl Cvijanovich helps organize the walk.
She lost her son 10 years ago after he came down with a sudden case of acute pancreatitis.

“When we can all get together, it helps us to make sure that their memories are kept alive,” said Cvijanovich.

She’s walking in spirit with the rest of the walkers to remember Matt.
She hopes her experience rubs off on others.

“It’s a way of helping other people who are not as far along in their grief as I am. 10 years is a while, but it never goes away,” said Cvijanovich.

Organizers say it’s important to have this kind of event because sometimes people feel hopeless after losing someone.

“After the funeral and everything kind of quiets down you feel completely alone and we’re just trying to reach out to people and let them know; you’re not alone, there are people going through some of the same pain you are,” said Bailey.

It’s a pain people say can be healed step after step and memory after memory.

Organizers tell us this year’s event doubled with 202 people.
