The small town of Ada has received two large grants to help with growth and development.
KVRR’s Brittany Ford talked with locals to see what they are saying about the new changes to come.
The USDA has awarded the town of Ada $100,000 in funding for small businesses to grow.
That’s in addition to an existing $50,000 fund.
Low interest loans will allow the startup of more businesses, and the upgrading of older buildings.
“Everything you possibly want in a community just 45 minutes from Fargo. So the idea is to make the community that much more attractive so that not only will families want to stay, and grow but also for businesses, and that’s the intent of all these grants,” said Ada City Administrator James Leiman.
One business owner shared how he is excited to see how the money will also bring curb appeal downtown.
“When you start seeing that in the community, see beautiful buildings it attracts other businesses to come here. Plus we have these incentives. You can come and you can get a low interest loan to help either improve your business or create a business,” said Business Owner Todd Sawery.
Not only help will the grant money help the town’s economy, it will also create more jobs.
Larson is from Felton and was just hired full time at the Dekko Facility in preparation for the upcoming expansion.
“Good thing about creating jobs here and people being so supportive is that people won’t have to drive 45 to 50 miles from Fargo. We can work out here live out here,” said Ashely Larson of Felton.
The city also plans on investing over $1 million in the town’s two industrial parks.
And work on completing a $10 million levee project.

In addition to the funding, the city administrator also plans on creating comprehensive plans to improve housing opportunities and better use of community parks.
