Two more local Red Cross volunteers are headed to Saipan.

Paul and Barb Henke of Valley City left from Fargo for at least a three week trip.
They join Sean Coffman who left on Tuesday.

The island of Saipan, a U.S. commonwealth, is in a state of disaster after a typhoon hit on Sunday.

The Henke’s have been volunteering for the Red Cross since 1995.

They have helped with several disasters like 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy but this is the furthest they will have ever traveled.

“It makes you feel so good inside just to, like you said, know that you’re helping other people who are, for some of them it’s the worst time of their life. And you can do something to help them,” they explain.

Damage from the typhoon is extensive across the island of around 50,000 people.
