Around 30 high school students in Cass County are getting a taste of local government and politics.

The Cass County Youth Commission held commencement for its new members.

It’s a leadership program to teach youth about local government.

The program was developed to encourage youth to be civics engaged.

They also work with select charities in the community.

Many students involved plan to enter into the world of politics in the future.

“A lot of people think of politics and maybe check out especially like the younger age group that we are. But if we can get involved in it and see how much of a difference that we can make even if we’re not voting age we can still have a lot of influence on decisions,” says Ali Vannett, last year’s chair.

If you would like to get involved, you can stop by the Cass County Courthouse for more information.
