The Chamber of Commerce has done it again, hosting a successful Military Appreciation Night at Newman Outdoor Field.
Singing words glorifying the United States, Lee Greenwood decided to stop in on the Military Appreciation Day during the RedHawks game.
He’s been heavily involved in supporting our men and women serving our country.
Lee Greenwood said,”Since I wrote USA and it became what i do as a career, now I actually find it important to support troops and I do it every day every time I can.”
Greenwood wasn’t the only one to perform, veterans presented the colors, and one Vietnam veteran says it’s an indescribable feeling.
Ronald E DuRand who served in Vietnam said, “It wasn’t like when we came home from Vietnam. It feels much different much better now of days.but it’s an exhilarating feeling.”
The players were adorned with camo to support our service members that were in attendance.
And one veteran says there is a special bond created when serving in the military.
Thomas Mitchell said, “I talked to a couple of people I don’t know who served and compared notes. To know that you and they have gone through some of the same things.”
Celebrating the fact that we are the land of the free, because of the brave.
With help from sponsors, over 700 military members were treated to tonight’s game.
