Hometown Favorites: No Trees? No Problem At This Golf Course

One golf course in the valley drove their way to the top of our latest Hometown Favorites poll.

“When you think of summer, many people here in the valley think of golfing, and there’s one course in Moorhead that many of our viewers prefer.”

Jacob Holtgrewe will be a junior at Moorhead High School and he’s making sure his skills are up to par for the upcoming golf season.
When he’s practicing on his drives, there’s one place you can catch him; The Meadows Golf Course in Moorhead.
He says the lack of trees is one of the reasons he prefers this course.

“A lot of people think that’s a lot easier, even though I think it’s a lot more challenging because you have to deal with the wind, so trying to play with the wind and trying to fuss with that is a little challenging,” said Jacob.

Head Golf Professional Corey Herlickson says that’s what draws in a lot of people in the area.

“It plays a little differently, when it’s windy there’s really nowhere to hide, but when it’s not windy, you can come out and you can shoot some low scores,” said Herlickson.

“Photographer Patrick Conteh and I decided to check out the course, but first I had to figure out how to drive in the cart and out on the greens.”

We could see why others love how well kept the course is.

“The conditions here are usually really good. The fairways are good, the greens always roll nice and true which is good for you know… better golfers,” said Bill Burgess of Fargo.

It’s just another reason Jacob prefers The Meadows.

“They just roll so nice and the fairways are in such good condition and I think the service we have at Meadows is, it’s just great,” said Jacob.

And that’s how golfers get into the swing of things here at the meadows golf course in Moorhead. Be sure to log onto KVRR.COM to vote for next week’s hometown favorite favorite place to get ice cream.
