Local Police and Firefighters Battle It Out for Blood
Things are heating up between Fargo Fire and Fargo Police departments as they go head to head in the annual Battle of the Badges.
The largest blood drive in North Dakota at West Acres pits local police officers against the fire department.
The tug–of–war is an annual tradition to kick off the drive, but this year the Fargo Fire Department tugged a fire truck.
The Police Department was short on manpower.
When people donate at West Acres, they can choose to support the fire or police department.
“This is the community’s time for you all to be kind of an honorary firefighter, paramedic, police officer and step in and fill a community need and save a life,” said Fargo Fire Department Chief Steve Dirksen.
An anonymous person made a $1,000 donation to the drive.
It will be given to the department with the most donations.
Day one: fire got 69 donors, police 63.
There are 3 days to go.
An anonymous $1,000 donation will be given to the department with the most donations.
