Fargo comes in strong as a semifinalist in the Georgetown University Energy Prize competition.
Fargo is currently ranked in fourth place.
The city of Fargo and NDSU launches efargo today, a game to encourage the community to be more energy efficient.
The game will have new challenges weekly addressing different areas of energy use like light, heat and water.
Towns competing need to reduce its energy consumption and increase renewables by five percent.
“If we can reduce any kind of waste, it saves resources for us and those resources can be applied to other uses. There are so many other things we want to do as a city, as a community. If we can prevent energy waste, save those dollars. We can apply them to other uses,” says efargo lead researcher Malini Srivastava.
Finalists will be chosen next January.
