Moorhead celebrates its heritage by planting a garden.

People volunteered to help place a variety of plants in the new Heritage Garden at Woodlawn Park.

They brought their own towels, gloves, shovels and water buckets as they work to build something the whole community can enjoy.

The garden concept is designed by some local artists who are working closely with the Plains Art Museum, the City of Moorhead and Moorhead Public Service.

Co-Garden Designer Su Legatt says, “We’re trying to pay homage to the history and culture of Moorhead with a special emphasis on agriculture, the connection to the river and than across the street is where the old power plant used to be.”

Plant placement will continue Saturday, June 6 from 10:00am-1:00pm.

The garden is located at the east edge of the park.

The address is 400 Woodlawn Park Drive in South Moorhead.
