Casey’s General Store Robbed Again

Robbers Hold Employees In Basement

Police are searching for four suspects who robbed a Casey’s General Store early this morning. Police say two armed men entered the store on 27th Avenue and south University Drive. That’s when things escalated.

Kenny Robinson has lived in the area for 30 years. He has always considered it a safe place until now.

“It’s kind of crazy it’s starting to be unsafe,” Robinson explained.

Two masked men entered a Casey’s General Store. One had a knife, the other a gun.

Around midnight two of the suspects ordered the employees into the basement. Fargo police are saying that this robbery is out of the ordinary.

“It is an unusual robbery in that there is more than one or two suspects,” says Sgt. Jim Van Lith. “Traditionally, robberies involve just one or two suspects entering a store. In this one, there were a total of four. And that is unusual for our area.”

Once the workers were in the basement, two more robbers were let in through a back door. After taking cash from the register, items from the store and employees, the robbers fled.

This same store was robbed in October. Police believe that stores like Casey’s are targeted because they’re open 24 hours.

The Bowler is just across the street from the scene of the crime. They’re open until 2 a.m. and take serious precautions when it comes to protecting their employees.

“The girls will leave in groups or with another employee. Some do carry stun guns and tasers and sprays,” says general manager James Tandeski.

People like Tandeski and Robinson are hoping the crimes stop before things go too far.

“It’s going to be sooner or later somebody’s going to get caught between a bullet or something like that,” says Robinson.

Police have described one of the suspects as a white, 5’11 male. They are reviewing surveillance video in hopes to identify the others.
