Local Golfers Hit the Links

History has been made for Moorhead golf courses.
This is the earliest date that driving ranges have opened because of the warm temperatures.
Opening of the driving ranges at The Village and The Meadows golf courses is quite the shock to the course’s staff, especially a month ahead of their typical opening date.
Corey Herlickson of the Meadows Golf Course said he was, “Bewildered and really surprised.”
According to Herlickson, if the courses open by this weekend, The Meadows could generate an extra 4,000 dollars.
“Any revenue we can collect prior to our normal opening date, is almost like gravy,” said Herlickson.
Golfer Chris Christianson said, “If it’s just paying for golf it’s good because the nicer we can make Moorhead, the nicer it is for everybody. I feel like Fargo gets a lot of credit for stuff and Moorhead’s here too.”
Most golfers say it’s great to get back into the swing of things.
Golfing his entire life, Chris Hoppe said, “I like to practice so it’s nice when it opens early like this”
“It’s nice to be able to come out here right away and knock the cob–webs off a little bit,” said Christianson.
The actual courses have been closed since October and will be until the frost is gone from the greens.
Even if players have to wait, they’re pleased with the early surprise.
There is no word yet when Fargo’s golf course ranges will open for the season.
