UND Advances to Frozen Four with 4-1 Win v. SCSU
FARGO, N.D. — The University of North Dakota men’s hockey is headed back to the Frozen Four for the second straight year.
North Dakota beat St. Cloud State, 4-1 tonight at the Scheels Arena in Fargo, N.D., in the NCAA West Regional final.
SCSU scored first – early – at 1:29 in the first period. But the UND defense was strong from there, only allowing 20 total shots on net.
The UND offense took over. Andrew Panzarella, a late add to the line-up after Keaton Thompson was out with an illness, tied it at 8:59 of the first.
Drake Caggiula scored at 6:49 of the second and Luke Johnson made it 3-1 at 2:53 of the third. UND sealed it with an empty netter by Colten St. Clair at 19:19.
UND netminder Zane McIntyre was named the West Regional Most Outstanding Player after registering 19 saves Saturday. He was joined on the all-tournament team by UND’s Troy Stecher, Drake Caggiula and Luke Johnson along with St. Cloud State’s Jonny Brodzinski and Ethan Prow.
