Firefighters from a number of agencies are battling a massive grass fire in southeast Clay County.
Hundreds of acres have burned near Pelican Rapids and the wind has helped it rapidly spread.
Authorities tell us it’s a tough fight because the fire is in a wooded area.
Most of the fire spread through DNR land although some did reach residential areas.
Clay County Sheriff Bergquist says he doesn’t believe there were any injuries.
Sheriff Bill Bergquist, Clay County: “It’s acres, it’s acres of acres of land that are burnt, and it’s mainly the woods and the grass so it’s going to be pretty hard like a say to get in there and get everything that we need to get put out.”
The DNR, Hawley Fire and Barnesville Fire were some of the departments responding.
