Highway Patrol Lieutenant Cited for Driving Wrong Way During Emergency Call

A North Dakota Highway Patrol lieutenant accused of driving the wrong way down U.S. Highway 2, will be cited.

A log of 9-1-1 calls shows Lt. Troy Hischer told a dispatcher he was on the phone while he drove about 4 miles in the wrong lane.

He was responding to the bus-train crash near Larimore at the time.

Hischer had been on administrative leave during a month-long probe but has returned to duty.

Some troopers felt the mistake was covered up.

Hischer’s superiors weren’t notified until a blogger wrote about it.
