Saturday, August 8 from 8pm – 9pm
Sunday, August 9 from 12pm – 5pm
American Legion Outdoor Stage – Downtown Fargo
The Jass Festival is proud to announce their annual performances scheduled for August featuring two days of performances and concerts. Saturday, August 8th will showcase a special concert by The Christopher Hanson Jazz Quintet with guest soloist Fargo-native Tim Stine on guitar at 8:00 p.m. taking place on the outdoor stage at the American Legion in downtown Fargo. This event is a 21+ concert event. Sunday, August 9th will feature a festival of jazz spread out through the entire afternoon featuring jazz by local artists and bands from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. This event is an all-ages presentation. Throughout the Sunday concerts, indoor and outdoor kid’s activities (including bounce houses outdoors, indoor games and activities indoors, and an Instrumental Petting Zoo) and concessions will be available. All concerts both Saturday and Sunday are free of admission. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged for both the Saturday and Sunday performances. In case of weather issues on Sunday, the performance will take place indoors at the American Legion upstairs.
Sunday performing ensembles include the El Zagal Imperial Big Band (12 p.m.), the 188th Army Band Jazz Band (12:50 p.m.), Chris Gould (1:40 p.m.), the Dakota Brass Quintet (2:30 p.m.), the Little Red River Band (3:20 p.m.), and the FM Kicks Big Band (4:10 p.m.).
While there is no admission for Jass Festival performances, a free-will donation is being accepted at the gate. Funds collected will be donated to the Fargo VA Medical Center to purchase items for veterans and patients at the medical center. This will provide movies, books, magazines, iTunes gift cards, CD’s, and other items to aid our hospitalized veterans with their recovery and comfort.
