Fargo Man Now Pleads Guilty to Killing His Cousin
A Fargo man whose retrial for killing his cousin was to begin next week has now pleaded guilty to murder.
In a plea deal late Friday afternoon, Christopher Hampton was immediately sentenced to 20 years in prison with another 5 years of probation.
Hampton initially claimed he acted in self defense when he shot and killed his roommate and cousin Randall Doehner at their north Fargo home last summer.
The judge declared a mistrial in July when the jury couldn’t reach an agreement.
