I-29 Shut Down Briefly Due to Grass Fires

Sorry, this video is no longer available

A section of I-29 is shut down for about an hour due to a wind fueled fire in Richland County.

A dozen fire departments were called out around 6 o’clock to an area between Galchutt and the Wahpeton exit.

The dense smoke caused visibility to drop to zero at times.

It is believe the fire was sparked by a combine.

The interstate is once again open.

There were numerous reports this afternoon of grass fires getting out of control as the winds picked up.

This picture was sent to us from Aimee Teske.

It is a fire that got out of control southeast of Edgeley.

Janet Marohl sent us a snapshot of another fire raging near Marion in LaMoure county.
