Elbow Lake Man Changes Plea in Beating Death
An Elbow Lake, Minnesota man reaches a plea agreement in the beating death of a homeless man in Fargo last November.
Clayton Lockwood Jr. was charged with manslaughter in the death of 54-year-old Mario Perez.
He initially pleaded not guilty, but today made an Alford plea, meaning he didn’t admit guilty but did admit there evidence that could result in a conviction.
The judge sentenced Lockwood to 6 ½ years in prison.
Perez’s body was found in an empty apartment on Broadway in downtown Fargo.
He died in the hospital two weeks later.
