North Dakota Promotes Hemp Research Program

A research program is being launched to help determine whether industrial hemp can be a viable commodity in North Dakota.

It will be led by the ag department and comes eight years after it issued the nation’s first hemp-growing licenses.

A federal law which hampered the hemp industry was changed in the 2014 farm bill.

NDSU has already started hemp research at its Langdon center.

The state is taking applications from people and groups who want to participate.

The deadline is January 1.
