Historic Downtown Apartment Building Gets “New” Old Name

A historic downtown apartment building is getting a new, but old name.

The City Center apartment building located at 416 2nd Avenue North will be returning to its original name, the “Jackson Building.”

According to NDSU digital archives, the building was known as the Jackson until the late 1980’s, early 1990’s.

The Kilbourne Group acquired the property back in May and decided to make the change, as a way to honor the structure’s past and its original owners.

“We do a lot of research about a property as soon as we acquire it, and see if there’s any way we can incorporate one of the former owners, or I think in this case one of the architects, and utilize it to honor the past,” says Cass Maland, Marketing Specialist for The Kilbourne Group.

The nearly 100 year old building was built back in 1916.
