Paris Attacks Ignite Fear Worldwide

As the French still try to make sense of the deadly attacks on its most treasured city, the rest of the world joins them.

These terrorists are doing just what they want, spreading fear.

It’s not just France that’s concerned as ISIS has announced the United States is its next target.

And after the ruthless shootings of innocent civilians, ISIS is proving they won’t stop.

A city recognized as one of the most beautiful in the world is hurting… plagued by fear and terror.

It’s a feeling the U.S. is all too familiar with, and according to NDSU Professor Ambrosio, it’s only a matter of time until we experience it again.

“It will happen in the United States, it’s just a matter of time,” says Political Science Professor, Thomas Ambrosio.

Ambrosio compares stopping ISIS to a hockey game.

“Even the best goalie in the world, can’t stop every puck,” he says.

And ISIS has made it clear:  the United States is its main target.

“What we’ve seen in Paris, they want to do in the United States as well,” says Ambrosio.

It’s a dangerous world, but the multiple viscous attacks in Paris have ignited fear.

“We sent out an e-mail to all of our students studying in Europe next year, letting them know we are here if they need support or services,” says NDSU Study Abroad Director, Alicia Kauffman.

“President Obama has ordered flags be at half-staff across the country today as we pay our respects to the victims of these horrific attacks.”

A French resident reached out to us, describing the emotions plaguing France.

22-year-old Alex Mure currently lives in Monaco. He says all the pain is uniting the French people.  He also says “we still go out at night and we won’t stop.”

“It’s a post 9-11 world. This is kind of our new reality,” says Ambrosio.

A reality for one generation that is becoming more and more of the norm.

Professor Ambrosio tells me France has been one of ISIS’ main target for two reasons.

He says France has had a difficult time assimilating its Muslim population, making it a breeding ground for ISIS recruitment.

France has also been actively involved in the ISIS campaign.
