Do You Ever Get the Fomo? Seriously, it’s for Real!
If you are struggling with fomo, doctors say it’s important you realize you are not alone.
Fomo is the doubt you may miss out on something if you don’t stay connected through social media and with the holidays approaching, it’s easy to fall into that trap.
But psychologists say you don’t have to be online during the holidays to feel the full effects of fomo.
“When we see people getting together with their families, going on fabulous vacations during the winter break, it really leads to people feeling that they can be much more isolated and alone and it becomes very problematic. It’s important to have an attitude of gratitude, be grateful for what you have in your life,” says Dr. Joe Travella of the NYU Langone Medical Center.
Fomo is a condition that was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013.
Dr. Taravella says it’s important to not focus on getting “likes” but liking yourself.
