Brust Seeking Commission Seat for Third Time

A Fargo attorney hopes the third time’s a charm in her quest for a City Commission seat.

Mara Brust announced her candidacy for the Commission.

She’s run twice before, losing each time.

She says she’s more confident this time because she’s jumping into the race earlier.

Brust is on an arts board and says the arts will be a top priority for her.

She says it’s a way to attract young people to Fargo.

“I’ve watched as my talented friends move away, and when they leave the area it’s not because taxes are too high or they can’t find a job,” Brust says. “It’s because they want to live in a community with vast cultural opportunities within walking distance.”

Two seats vacated by Melissa Sobolik and Mike Williams are opening up on the commission.

Election Day is June 14th.
