Cook Your Way to a Healthy Heart
American Heart Association wants to inspire people to take better care of their heart and it all starts in the kitchen.
The event at the Avalon Events Center focused on teaching good nutrition and of course, providing some heart healthy recipes.
Nutritionists suggest using soy products in your cooking whenever possible.
Many of the recipes still include the flavor your taste buds crave without the additional calories and sodium.
“We’re trying to inspire individuals to learn new ways and old ways to cook so they can provide healthy meals to themselves and their families to make small steps to make a big impact in their life and their heart health,” says Tom Jones with the American Heart Association.
For better heart health, the American Heart Association also recommends to know your numbers.
Jones encourages people to find out their cholesterol count, BMI, blood sugar levels and blood pressure.
