Red River Women’s Clinic Seeking Compensation for Court Battles

Red River Women’s Clinic in Fargo is seeking litigation costs from its latest state and Supreme Court battles.

The court refused last month to review lower court rulings overturning the state’s ban on abortion at six weeks of pregnancy.

North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says it’s likely the state will have to pay the clinic’s fees.

But he says the claims would be “scrutinized very closely.”

The legislature passed the abortion law and others in 2013 and has twice set aside money to defend lawsuits.
