Put Out Those Cigarettes! Stop Fires Before They Start

Fargo Fire has some helpful fire prevention tips for our spring-like weather.

As the grass begins to dry, the Fargo Fire Department says brush fires are easily ignited.

The department is reminding people to clean up all smoking materials.

Also, make sure that when smoking, that each cigarette is always completely put out.

“So it’s really easy to prevent those. You just need to go and clean up those cigarette butts; use a proper ashtray when your smoking. Also make sure that you stub out your cigarette every time, and then put that in a proper ashtray and dispose of them properly,” said Ryan Erickson Fargo Fire Marshal.

Last year, Fargo Fire responded to 11 fires that were a result of an improperly discarded cigarette.
