UND Hockey at the Frozen Four: “We’re Not Trying to be Tourists Here”

The UND men’s hockey team travels south to nab a national title at the Frozen Four.

KVRR’s Sports Director Mike McCann and sports reporter Ted Leroux are in Tampa Bay to bring us live coverage through Saturday.

It’s quiet outside Amalie Arena right now, not a lot of people around but that will not be the case in less than 24 hours when North Dakota makes its third consecutive appearance in the Frozen Four.

Now Tampa Bay is obviously very different than Philadelphia and Boston.

Those were the sites of the previous two and you think maybe Florida, south Florida vacation?

The players see it differently.

They gave responses that Chevy Chase would not like very much.

“We’re not trying to be tourists here.  I think we’ll come back and be tourists one day, but I think it’s a business trip for us and we’re just trying to dial it in for that game.  So we’re just hanging around the hotel, focusing on Thursday at this point,” said UND Senior Forward Bryn Chyzyk.

“Can’t really beat it, especially when it’s 35 degrees back home, so we’re gonna enjoy that weather, but like you said, it is a business trip and we’re here to get a job done,” said UND Sophomore Forward Trevor Olson.

We have a lot more to come and we’re going to break down UND and Denver.

It’s the sixth time they’ve met and it’s been talked about over and over but it still seems incredible.
