Thompson School Referendum Fails By Razor Thin Margin

An $11 million bond referendum to add more than 32,000 square feet to Thompson Public School failed by less than one percent.

981 ballots were cast.

582 people voted for the referendum, with 399 voting against it.

59.3% of voters approved the bond, but 60% was needed for it to pass.

This is the third school bond issue voters in Thompson have rejected since 2012.

School officials say the building, parts of which date back to 1957, won’t be able to support Thompson’s growing student population in years to come.
