International Scavenger Hunt Spreads Random Acts of Kindness and Random Acts of Hilarity

The Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen or G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. for short is currently underway.

Founded in 2011 by actor Misha Collins of the hit show, “Supernatural”, this global competition pits teams against each other in a battle to see who can accomplish the most items on the G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. list in the one week period.

No team has ever completed all of them though.

Some challenges are goofy.

“We cut coupons out of the newspaper and she took them through the store and taped them on the corresponding items with a note that said they were from the coupon fairy,” says Marry Pruitt-Moore a competitor from Jacksonville Florida.

There are also a bunch of sometimes odd rules the competitors must follow.

This year, competitors are not allowed to say a particular word…we won’t mention it here…but it’s leafy, green and rhymes with sale.

The biggest part of this event is completing random acts of kindness ranging from paying for a person’s Starbucks to reuniting a person with their birth parents.

“”The website asks you, “How does this make you feel?” and “What did you learn while doing this?” and it’s just amazing you know?”” Pruitt-Moore says.

G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. has certainly opened my eyes as well as some people in this community to the willingness of people to go out and help others.

“Well I really like the idea of random acts of kindness. For example my mom she’s in a retirement home and I go to visit her and there are a lot of other people there that just never get visitor,” says Fargo local Lawson Harrison.

“It sounds really interesting and I think that’s a really good start to getting people to actually help out,” says Sharnhel Patvin.

“I think it sounds really cool, really interesting. Something that gets people out into the community once again and gets people more involved,” Abby Carlson.

Winners of G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. go to Iceland with Misha Collins.

They will go dog sledding and party…inside a volcano.
